Acupuncture is my main treatment tool, but the health intake and Shen-Hammer Pulse diagnosis is the same for all New Patients. Together we decide which of my flexible care options you would like to choose for treatments.
Acupuncture
Diagnosis is my specialty and you can schedule a pulse intake session with me to gain a clear picture of your current health. I do this with every new patient visit, but you can come for only a pulse reading and bring the analysis to your other health care providers.
Shen-Hammer Pulse
If needles aren’t your thing, I can suggest Chinese herbal formulas that provide deep healing and symptom relief. I do a full health intake and Shen-Hammer Pulse diagnosis to analyze how your body is holding up to your current and past stressors.

We spend about 2 hours and discuss all of your health concerns in detail. The pulse intake, tongue and face observations provide key insights into your organ health and constitutional reserves. I review all the information and explain the diagnostic picture I see. We do the most work during this visit.

Acupuncture treatments are tailored to your current condition and improving your overall health for life-changing results.

These treatments are based off of the diagnosis and management plan we come up with from your full intake. We do a very short health update and focus the rest of the time on treatment.
Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis

This appointment is for those who do not intend to receive acupuncture. It includes a full pulse intake with a discussion about how your current health issues have come to be. The pulse provides insight into the health of your body, mind and emotions and specifically how they are all interrelated.

Taking the pulse multiple times over a period of time provides a record for treatment progress and when it isn’t working well, we can see what to do next. This is a pulse intake in which I compare what I find to your previous pulse record. No treatment is given during this appointment.
Herbal Therapies

I use Chinese Herbal Medicine for all kinds issues. Herbal combinations designed by master herbalists from centuries past work synergistically to treat multiple aspects of disease as patterns. Formulas can be taken to keep a cold from getting worse, for deeper sleep, better digestion and feeling calmer or building up energy.

If you are taking herbal formulas, we do follow-up appointments every 4-6 weeks to make changes to your herbal treatment or keep you going on the same plan.

Treatment with herbal formulas varies in quantity and cost. You may only need one formula, but sometimes it takes two or three to bring you back to balance. Herb formulas can cost anywhere from $10 - $100 and are paid separately from the consult.
